Each state school in New Zealand is given an Operations Grant by the government. This grant is intended to cover all the operational costs of the school including costs associated with teaching and learning. As a Decile 9 school, because we are considered to be taking students from a high socio-economic area, we receive less funding per capita than lower decile schools. The maintenance and development of the quality education we deliver is, therefore, dependent on additional resourcing from parents.
The school is grateful for the essential additional funds received from:
- The Annual Parent Donation. This donation is set at a level to cover costs associated with providing the special nature of an Epsom Girls Grammar School education, and other costs such as Student ID cards and the school magazine. For 2013 this is $625 per student.
- Additional donations sought each year from parents and families for special school projects.
- The work of the EGGS Foundation and Foundation Office which coordinates a variety of fundraising activities, events, sponsorships, applications for grants and community relationships.
