Epsom Girls Grammar School is a supportive learning community which challenges young women to achieve personal excellence and to develop as confident, caring, life-long learners positively engaged in our world.
Epsom Girls Grammar School celebrated its 75th Jubilee in 1992 and is proud of its history and traditions. The school opened in 1917, with just 174 students, but it is now one of the largest secondary schools for girls in New Zealand. Despite its size, the school continues to recognise and cater for the needs of individual students. Teachers share the belief that every student has strengths and abilities to be identified and developed.
While still retaining the best of the school's traditions and values, we now incorporate into the curriculum a wide range of school subjects and are committed to well-researched methods of teaching that enrich the education of today's young women. Students participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities. Through these activities and their academic learning they develop confidence, respect and an appreciation of diversity.
Most students from Epsom Girls Grammar School continue their education at university or at other tertiary institutions. We aim not only to equip our students for these learning environments, but also to engender a desire for further learning, which will be lifelong.
The school emphasises the responsibilities of women in today's society, offering leadership opportunities, providing good role models and encouraging girls to make confident decisions about their futures.
Epsom Girls Grammar School is a community school. The enrolment scheme has always sought to provide first for local families. In partnership with past and present students and their parents, we hope every student will enjoy her membership of the very special community which is Epsom Girls Grammar School.
