24 June 2010
Dear Members and the School Community
EGGSOGA held its AGM on 14 June 2010. This was well attended by 30 Members who came to give their support for the passing of the new Constitution and Rules. Yes, it’s official! EGGSOGA has now entered a new era. We will register the new Constitution and then apply to be registered as a charitable entity with the Charities Commission.
Under the new Constitution, EGGSOGA no longer intends to charge subscriptions for membership. Members will be asked to make a donation to cover the running costs of the Association but this will be voluntary. This means that Members can support the Association according to their means. All events will be structured so that they are self funding.
If you are a former student or staff member of EGGS and are not a Member of the Association, you can now join by applying to the Secretary with details of your name, maiden name (if relevant), address, email address, telephone number, and the years you were at EGGS. This can either be posted to the Association at PO Box 26-276, Epsom, Auckland, 1344 or emailed to the Association at oga@eggs.school.nz
Committee for 2010
Ro Bellamy our President for the past three years will continue to serve on the Committee. Julie Goodyer, who convened the sub-committee drafting the new Constitution, is President. Kathryn Seagrave serves another term as Secretary. The other members of the Committee are Fiona Cottam (staff representative) Mary Hall, Mary Dunkley, Catherine Peters and Vanessa Williams. The Constitution provides for a Committee of 10, including Officers, so we still need a Treasurer and one other Committee member. If you are interested in serving on the Committee, please email Julie Goodyer at jgoodyer@ellisgould.co.nz We particularly encourage younger Members to consider joining the Committee.
We now have an EGGSOGA group on the ‘Linked In’ website. Please consider joining this group. Catherine Peters will be posting regular updates regarding EGGSOGA news and functions.
The Committee would appreciate any feedback from Members as to what they would like the Committee to provide in terms of functions, events, newsletter frequency/content and recognition of Members. If you have any news of former students and staff that could be included in our newsletter, please email it to oga@eggs.school.nz or direct to Catherine Peters at cppraxispr@gmail.com
Thank you to all those who have supported Ro Bellamy as President over the past three years. I look forward to Ro’s continued support on the Committee as I take over the President’s role. It will be exciting implementing the new Constitution. The Committee was encouraged by level of feedback that we received from the wider membership which gave us the mandate to take the new Constitution to the AGM for approval.

Julie Goodyer (1971 – 1975 at EGGS)
(President 2010)
